Although your cat may have an instinctive homing ability, at times it may not work. A cat collar with an ID tag may help animal control or people who find your cat to return her to you. A cat collar should neither be too loose or too tight. A loose collar may get entangled in a fence and prove fatal, while a tight collar may cause your cat discomfort and frustration. Minimum information such as a telephone number attached to a cat collar can prevent your cat from getting lost.

You could get something for daily wear and some fancy collars for an evening out. But don’t get something that would make the cat look great but at the cost of its comfort.
